If you’ve been thinking about signing up for the next My Open Kitchen ecourse starting on July 23…you totally should (especially because there are now only five spots left (as of June 28)! Maybe because you want to learn to take and share gorgeous photos of the produce you produce? Maybe you want to start a newsletter and don’t know how, maybe you want to figure out how to tell your story in the most engaging way to the people who really want to hear it? We can help with all of the above and waaaaay more.
And because I’ve been working hard at updating and improving the ecourse offering, I thought it might be a good idea to outline what’s new and what’s on offer. It’s better and more community driven than ever, plus I’ve added some great new features (especially the one-on-one chats) which I hope will help every single one of our 20 students (small groups are nice and friendly hey) get the most out of their ecourse. So here’s what you get for your $250 bucks, and below, a breakdown of the six modules so you can have a better idea of whether this course might be for you. - 5 x modules of course work available to you for 6 months. During our 6 weeks together (from July 23 with a breather week half way through), I’ll publish a new module every Monday. Breakdowns of each module can be found via the the course homepage, (link in profile).
- 2 x 20 minute one-on-one phone calls for each student – In week 1, every student will be invited to join me for a 20 minute one-on-one phone call where we run through what you personally want tog et out of the course and highlight any particular ‘pain points’ – I can then point you in the direction of specific solutions and resources that might help. Prior to this conversation, I will have sent you a quick one-page questionnaire which will help me have a good understanding of your current ‘social media state’ and business. Then again in week 6 there’s the opportunity to have another 20 minute call with me to run through what we’ve learned and talk through any sticking points.
- In week 1, every student will also receive a little ‘care package’ as a token of encouragement from me to you as we kick off our time together.
- Our group of 20 will have its very own Facebook group where we can hang out, get to know each other, ask questions and share advice. Plus, every wednesday during our 6 weeks, I’ll be sitting in there, live from 12-1pm ready to answer any questions that might arise from that week’s coursework and keen for some good chats. At the end of the course you’ll then be added to our ecourse ‘alumni’ group where the conversation continues!
- I will be running a ‘hashtag challenge’ on Instagram where all students are invited to share a photo every week with a theme/prompt, using the hashtag #myopenkitchenstories. My favourite one from the week will be shared on the My Open Kitchen IG page.

What is your story? How will you tell it, why will you tell it and who will you tell it to? We deep dive into these questions so you can move forward with a really clear focus on this crucial who/what/why.
Getting started with social media – an overview of social media platforms, how they work and how to use them. Then we’ll finish with some inspiring examples of rural and regional users who are doing it right.

Core content – or ‘content marketing’ how to set up, write and promote a blog and/or newsletter.

Visual storytelling; How to use your phone or camera to take bright, appealing and share-able images. Great editing apps, how to post, caption and hashtag your photos.
Guest interview – Jeremy Simons, food and lifestyle photographer and David Morgan, food stylist.
Writing and editing captions that really tell your story. Plus a bonus section on writing recipes to showcase your produce and favourite dishes.
Guest interview – Anneka Manning/BakeClub
Building a following, collaborating and connecting; So now you have a social media account or three, you are taking beautiful images and posting them professionally. How do you get noticed? The art of collaborating, connecting with peers, communicating with your audience and creating genuine connections.
