We’re really excited to bring you this special episode and want you to know that we put it together as a thank you for your generous following and involvement My Open Kitchen so far.
Working on this project has been a rewarding, exciting and scary experience for both of us. But more than anything – it has been an exercise in collaboration and community building and the wave of good things that brings. Every single one of our guests and listeners form part of this My Open Kitchen community and we are super grateful to all of you.
So it’s fitting we think, that this is just what this bonus episode is all about – community and collaboration.
The Local is Lovely Workshops Sophie have been running with photographer Luisa Brimble, her Mum Annie Herron and friend and photographer Pip Farquharson (and many others!) over the past two years (or so), have created many new friendships, sparked collaborations, hilarity, creativity and new communities of good people doing good things all over the country. And here, thank to a day that Skye spent at the most recent workshop, we bring you a snippet of what they are all about.
And if all of this has you thinking about joining us for a workshop – next year, please note that Sophie is working on a new series of workshops but this time under the My Open Kitchen banner and mostly hosted here in Orange, NSW. They will feature more farm visits and will hopefully be accessible to many more people. Dates and details will be announced here in late January so watch this space, or better yet, sign up for the My Open Kitchen newsletter to be the first to know and book (see above).
Thank you to so many people for featuring in this episode; Annie Herron for sharing her garden paradise, Luisa Brimble for her high pitched excitement (you’ll know when you hear it!), Skye McAlpine for her quietly spoken words of wisdom, Pip Farquarson, Honey Atkinson, (below) Anisa Sabet (below with Skye), Clare Reilly and the lovely Gillian Bell!
And while you are here with us, please also have a look at this beautiful video produced by Honey Atkinson, a special and very talented woman that we’re both so glad to have crossed paths with. And to finish, we’ve added a few of Sophie’s pictures from the workshop.
Thank you lovely listeners! We hope you enjoy this special treat.
Sophie and Skye X
